Top Of The Class Air Movement
While you might be thinking a fan is a fan, King’s 60+ years of experience designing, and manufacturing air moving products has taught us that not all fans are the same.
You may see other lower priced, general purpose type fans available in the market that look similar but there are some major differences between how they are made and how they perform. The main difference between the two types is generally driven by cost.
General purpose fans use the least expensive materials and components and are designed for the residential or light duty commercial markets. These fans are used in homes and light duty applications.
When designing our line, we decided to focus on quality and durability, primarily for the industrial and light-commercial markets, so we chose materials, components and construction methods that are top of the class.
High Velocity Fan Types: Drum Fans, Pedestal Fans and Wall Fans
Drum Fans:
Drum Fans are great for warehouses that need to move a great amount of air to keep things cool and are easy to move because they have ergonomic wheels.
• Two speed switch controls airflow
• Rugged wheels & double handle design
• Slip-resistant feet reduces vibration
• 3 or 4 aerodynamically balanced blades
• 2-Speed fan switch
• Scratch resistant, powder- coated finish
• Heavy duty 22 gauge steel drum
• Reinforced with welded cross braces
• Wide and stable base
• Built-in cord storage
• Meets OSHA 1910.212(A)(5) Requirements
• 9 Ft, 120V Grounded Cord & Plug
Pedestal Fans:
Pedestal Fans are versatile because they are height adjustable and offer an oscillating feature that make it easy to cover both targeted areas as well as broad coverage of large areas.
• Outdoor rated for wet locations
• Oscillating designs with sweep or fixed position
• 80 degree oscillating motion
• Waterproof totally enclosed motor
• Optional Misting Kit Available
• 3 Aerodynamically Balanced Blades
• 3- Speed fan switch
• Low maintenance
• Scratch resistant, powder- coated finish
• Meets OSHA 1910.212(A)(5) Requirements
• 9 Ft, 120V Grounded Cord & Plug
Wall Fans:
Wall Fans offer the advantages of pedestals but are mounted higher up, and help remove warm air from the ceiling during the winter. Aside from the cooling benefits, wall mounted fans do not use any floor space.
• Outdoor rated for wet locations
• Oscillating designs with sweep or fixed position
• 80 degree oscillating motion
• Waterproof totally enclosed motor
• Optional Misting Kit Available
• 3 Aerodynamically Balanced Blades
• 3- Speed fan switch
• Low maintenance
• Scratch resistant, powder- coated finish
• Meets OSHA 1910.212(A)(5) Requirements
• 9 Ft, 120V Grounded Cord & Plug
Add a Mist Kit To Outdoor Rated Fans
Our wall and pedestal fans are unique in that they are rated for outdoor use, so they can be used in more areas and have enclosed motors to help protect them from the elements. Add a misting kit that easily converts them into misting fans, which is ideal for hot and humid summer days.
Key Specs To Consider When Making A Decision On A Fan Purchase
Motor Type: Direct Drive vs Belt Drive
Direct Drive motors are dependable, running on less power and require less maintenance compared to Belt Drive motors but the tradeoff is noise, as they tend to produce higher noise levels. The fan blade is centered on the shaft of the motor. Greater efficiency is the biggest advantage of direct drive fan configurations. Unlike belt-driven fans, there’s less energy loss because there’s a reduced amount of friction as the fan operates.
Belt-drive motors exists independently of the fan blades and use a belt that connects the motor to the fan’s moving parts. They are specifically designed for industrial applications and are rugged and reliable, while making less noise than direct-drive motors.
Number of Fan Blades and CFM
You will notice that most of our fans, which are powered by direct-drive motors use 3 fan blades, while the belt-drive models have 4 blades.
When a fan has fewer blades, there is generally less drag on the motor. This means it can go faster and move air more efficiently. As a result, there is more airflow and a better wind chill effect, which makes the breeze feel cooler. This makes your face feel cooler.
But with the belt-drive models, the belt ratio gives us more power from a smaller motor and we can increase the pitch of the fans blade so we get more air at a lower RPM and a quieter overall fan, making them ideal to cool wide open spaces where noise is a concern.
Number of speeds
The number of speeds available is also important as it will tell you how precise of ventilation you are able to control. Drum fans offer 2 speeds (High and Low) while the pedestal and wall fans offer 3 speeds of control and offer a wider range of CFM.
