How accurately does Hoot determine temperature?

There are many different factors that affect the temperature reading on Hoot. Everything from where Hoot is mounted, to the type of wall material can affect the temperature displayed on Hoot.

Note: When using an external room temperature sensor to measure the room temperature, don’t lay it on top of Hoot. This is because Hoot vents out air through the top of the unit, and this can severely impact the ability of the temperature sensor to measure the temperature correctly.

If the temperature reading is higher or lower than you prefer, you can also adjust the ambient temperature reading of your Thermostat. The Offset value that you set will be added or subtracted from the Hoot’s ambient temperature reading. Instructions can be found here.
